Customer effort score calculator
Last updated: 18 Oct 2026
Enter how many people chose each answer from 1 to 7 to see the average score and the share who agree.
How the calculation works
Customer effort score (CES) shows how easy customers found it to get their issue handled. People agree or disagree with the statement "The company made it easy for me to handle my issue", from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree).
Count how many responses chose each answer. The total is all of them added together.
- Average score: each answer times its number of responses, added up, divided by the total. It is shown to two decimal places.
- Agree share: responses that chose 5, 6 or 7, divided by the total, times 100.
Worked example
With 2, 3, 5, 10, 30, 30, 20 responses at answers 1 to 7, the total is 100. The scores add up to 533, so the average is 5.33. 80 responses chose 5, 6 or 7, so 80.0% agree.
What it leaves out
This page does not compare your score with any benchmark. Compare it with your own earlier results, using the same statement and scale. Results depend on how the survey is worded, when it is sent and how many people answered.
